This paper is an initial investigation about the Principle of Social Function of Contracts and its compatibility with the Economic Analysis of Law approach. From a traditional dogmatic perspective of contract law, not juseconomist, the social function of contracts is explained, including its articulation with the traditional elements of contract law (legal form). After that, the economic role that is inherent to all contracts is analyzed to partially incorporate a juseconomist perspective. The paper then concludes by analyzing other rules and principles within this framework.
