Abstract

The air transport industry in Brazil has experienced significantly growth during the past years. However this growth was not followed by the provision of the necessary infrastructure; resulting in overcrowded passengers terminal and limitations to new flights at several airports. The purpose of this study is to investigate the limitations and problems imposed by the lack of adequate airport infrastructure, and their prospects for solutions. The main conclusions is that even with a significant expansion of airport infrastructure, the issue of slot economic value, market concentration and access of new companies to most lucrative airports will still need regulatory solutions.
