Starting from Cultural Studies, we discuss how television series produce symbolic meanings, articulating concepts such as identity and representation. We seek to analyze the ways in which LGBTQIAP+ identities are treated in the first season of the Netflix original series Girls From Ipanema. We realize that the LGBTQIAP+ identity representation and female protagonism are points of transformation in relation to what is traditionally observed in Brazilian teledramaturgy.
