Abstract

Paloma is the first film from the revival of Pernambuco cinema that features a transgender woman as the protagonist. This article problematizes how new processes of subjectivation related to transgenderism are established based on the counter-conduct of the character. In addition to a bibliographic review on power and gender, the research analyzes the discourse in scenes where gender is discussed. Finally, it is considered that Paloma contributes to new ways of understanding transgenderism.
