Starting from the notions of media competence (Bauer, 2011; Martino & Menezes, 2012) and post-truth discursive resources (Dunker, 2017), we discuss the appropriation of the video essay format by disinformation profiles on YouTube and TikTok. We analyze how the use of this format becomes useful to give legitimacy to perspectives of historical revisionism, revealing the diversity of content that strengthens disinformation networks.
