Sharing natural resources: a critical time for a conflict

Abstract

The objective of this work is to develop a model, which allows analyzing a situation in which local and foreign producers use as input a nonrenewable local resource to produce a particular good. We analyze the possibility that an increasing exploitation of this natural resource generates conflicts between producers. We characterize the time when a potential conflict can blow up. Finally, different elements of fiscal policy for the local authority destined to delay or avoid the conflict are examined.
