Guardians of the Louvre: aspects of Memory and History

Abstract

Our text addresses the use of comics as a tool for preserving memory. The theory is based on the relationship between comics, memory and narrative, with references from authors such as Nogueira (2018, 2020), Lucas (2024), Rodrigues (2021) and Le Goff (1990), among others. The object of study is the manga Guardians of the Louvre (2018), by Jiro Taniguchi, which portrays the preservation of the Louvre's memory during the Second World War through the pages of comics. The methodology involves a structural analysis of the narrative, considering the relationship between graphic images and scientific knowledge.
