NECROCULTURA DO ARMÁRIO: A NORMATIZAÇÃO DOS ESTEREÓTIPOS QUEER COMO (DES)LEGITIMAÇÃO DA VIOLÊNCIA ANTI-LGBTQIA+

Abstract

Abstract: In this article, we analyze the normalization of stereotypes related to and directed at the queer (or LGBTQIA+) community as a way of justifying structural anti-LGBTQIA+ violence and violence between individuals. Based on a literature review of gender, sexuality, political, and social studies, linked to a research object in the audiovisual field, we contextualize and define a possible concept for the term necroculture of the closet. Using the film The Inspection (2022) as na object of analysis, we seek to highlight the logic behind the proposed concept, how it is expressed socially, and how it affects the queer community. The article gives a brief introduction to social hegemony, which is then followed by questions of identity, stereotypes, and aesthetics, and ends by explaining the concept of necroculture of the closet, using the object of analysis as an example. In conclusion, we find that there is a social culture of discrimination and prejudice against the LGBTQIA+ community that perpetuates a constant state of terror, as well as attempts to control bodies and identities through a policy and culture of life and death.

  • Felipe da Silva Polydoro, University of Brasília

    Professor-adjunto do Departamento de Comunicação Organizacional e do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Comunicação da Universidade de Brasília (FAC/UnB). Doutor pela Escola de Comunicações e Artes da Universidade de São Paulo. Mestre em Comunicação Social pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio Grande do Sul, onde também graduou-se em jornalismo. Desenvolveu investigações como pesquisador visitante no Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) e na Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM). Foi professor visitante no Programa de Pós-Graduação em História Social da Universidade de São Paulo, onde também desenvolveu pesquisa de pós-doutorado. Dedica-se a pesquisas centradas em Comunicação e Cultura Visual, com enfoque em imagens e narrativas de violência. Produziu trabalhos sobre: política das imagens no ciberespaço; novas visualidades, segurança pública e direitos humanos; estética e retórica de vídeos amadores. Líder do grupo de pesquisa Mídia e Cultura Visual (UnB).

    Mestrando no Programa de Pós-Graduação em Comunicação e Sociedade da Faculdade de Comunicação da Universidade de Brasília na linha de pesquisa Imagem, Estética e Cultura Contemporânea. É formado em Comunicação Organizacional pela Universidade de Brasília, com período sanduíche na Universidade de Varsóvia, Polônia.
