Brazil in the OECD: A Bibliometric Review

Abstract

Bibliometric research was conducted considering the recent movement, especially following the official candidacy in 2017, of Brazil's accession to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), intensifying the country's relations with that international body in recent years. This research analyzed the academic production published from 1996 to 2022, cataloged in Google Scholar, on the topic of "Brazil in the OECD." The aim was to identify the main trends, the evolution of published articles, leading authors and journals, and aspects of convergence of this thematic agenda. The intention was to systematize a debate based on the analysis of Brazilian academic production regarding Brazil's movement towards joining the OECD. The results encompassed 390 papers, involving 566 authors and 614 citations. There was a significant surge in publications starting from 2017, led by a group of female researchers from FGV. The papers primarily addressed aspects adjacent to the accession process, especially economic, tax, trade, and educational aspects, intertwined with governance mechanisms and normative adjustments. These findings serve as a foundation for understanding the current scenario and contribute to future research in the area.
