Abstract

Law, Economy and other Sciences, as Food Science, assume the existence of rational agents, who know and follow the rules. However, in the contemporary society, it is remarkable the fact that people have bounded rationality and, even when they act rationally, many prefer to follow signs and references that don't always lead to satisfactory behavior. In this study, we presented to Law students a diet chocolate and an ordinary chocolate, requesting them to indicate which one would be the best choice for a weight loss program. We started from the assumption that people act rationally and, therefore, they should read the nutritional information listed on food labels and choose those chocolates that have lower levels of total and saturated fats. The results showed the problems generate by the use of the term 'diet' and the need to revise the food regulations.
