BLOCKCHAIN E A SOLUÇÃO PARA O “PROBLEMA DA CONFIANÇA”

A confiança é elemento essencial à eficiência do sistema contratual. Em decorrência desta realidade estruturaram-se diversas instituições e agentes destinados a gerarem confiança entre aqueles que contratam sob sua intermediação. Estes intermediários (como Uber, Airbnb, PayPal, etc.), aqui chamados de terceiros confiáveis, asseguram a confiança nas transações, mas, ao mesmo tempo, se tornam centralizadores das informações e do mercado por eles intermediado. Todo o sistema de dados é acessado se o centralizador destas informações (o intermediário, o terceiro confiável) for acessado ou se permitir acessar. Há um único ponto de armazenamento de informações, o ponto do intermediário. Se ele falhar, todas as informações estão expostas. A confiança na preservação e uso adequado das informações produzidas pelos usuários dos serviços destes intermediários repousa, quase exclusivamente, sobre a competência destes últimos em adotar mecanismos de defesa contra acessos indesejáveis a essas informações. Este sistema, ao qual se pode chamar de centralizado, hoje é predominante, mas, como se pretende demonstrar, está sujeito a uma iminente substituição por um método descentralizado de geração de confiança suportado, como se demonstrará no texto, pela tecnologia do blockchain.
