Vitimização do Crime e Sentimento de Insegurança: Evidências para o Brasil

O objetivo deste artigo é avaliar o efeito da vitimização direta do crime (roubo, furto e agressão física) sobre o sentimento de insegurança do indivíduo no Brasil: no domicílio, bairro e cidade, com base nos dados da PNAD (2009). Para tanto, utiliza-se o método Propensity Score Matching (PSM) e aplica-se análises de sensibilidade proposta por Ichino et al. (2008) e Becker e Caliendo (2007). Os resultados são robustos e indicam que os três tipos de vitimização considerados nesta pesquisa estão associados a uma maior probabilidade do sentimento de insegurança no bairro, no domicílio e na cidade. Entretanto, todos os efeitos mostram-se maiores no bairro. Além disso, a influência da vitimização do roubo é mais forte do que a dos demais tipos sobre o sentimento de insegurança no bairro e na cidade. Tais evidências sugerem importantes indícios de que a vitimização direta contribui para os altos índices de insegurança no Brasil.Downloads
