Propriedade Intelectual e Sociedade da Informação (PERSPECTIVAS INTERNACIONAIS E TECNOLÓGICAS EM ECONOMIA DA INFORMAÇÃO)
Abstract
A revolução da tecnologia da informação está mudando as formas fundamentais de acessar informações. Uma quantidade crescente de informações está disponível em formato eletrônico, redes de computadores de interconexão em todo o mundo e para a Web fornece a base para o acesso a uma grande quantidade de informações, que vão desde artigos de jornal para arquivos de música e todos eles estão facilmente disponíveis no qualquer um. No entanto, os mesmos desenvolvimentos tecnológicos que fornecem acesso fácil a essas informações, ao mesmo tempo, levantam questões importantes de preocupação com relação a questões de direitos autorais e sua proteção. Isso ocorre porque a mesma tecnologia facilita o acesso à informação e, ao mesmo tempo, ajuda a copiar facilmente as informações, sejam elas legais ou ilegais. Como resultado, muitas regras de propriedade intelectual aplicadas a objetos físicos não são aplicadas com os mesmos efeitos em ambientes digitais. Esse problema é aprimorado pelo desenvolvimento contínuo e irrestrito da Internet e pela rede de computadores mais ampla e persistente. Estas são as questões abordadas neste ensaio, utilizando-se como metodologia a narrativa amparada pela revisão da literatura internacional sobre o tema investigado.
