The manifestation of values in the Greek Paideia: an analysis of the formative role of Homer

The return to the past is necessary to comprehend the present, its potentialities and its deficiencies. Regarding education, the Greeks always emerged as the exponent to the Western World, which adopted a large part of their practices and reasons regarding the act of educating. This article intends to explore an elementary characteristic of Greek education: the existence of values and common moral ideals in the homeric literature and how these values were reflected in the Greek Paideia.
