Abstract

This paper aims to analyze the use of metaphorical language as a discursive resource for the conceptual construction of duration by the French philosopher Henri Bergson. In addition, we will attempt to demonstrate how the definition of "context" by literary critic I. A. Richards in the work The Philosophy of Rhetoric, published in 1936, allows for a philosophical understanding of Bergson's conception of duration.
