Abstract

This paper examines the evolution of the human condition in the light of Axel Honneth's theories of social recognition and Hans Jonas' ethics of responsibility. Honneth explores how the individual's identity and autonomy are shaped by social recognition and interactive relationships in modern society. Jonas, for his part, highlights the need for an ethic of responsibility in the face of technological advances, which must take into account the future consequences of human actions. The transition from Homo Sapiens to Homo Faber symbolizes the transformation of the human being from a predominantly rational and social being to a productive and technological agent. The dialogue between Honneth and Jonas reveals how the ability to transform the world (Homo Faber) requires not only ongoing social recognition, but also deep ethical consideration of the impact of these transformations on the future. The text argues that the intersection of their theories offers a comprehensive view of the new human condition, highlighting the need to integrate ethical responsibility and social recognition in the age of technology and production.
