Abstract

In this article I aimed to study the aesthetic representations of the political leadership of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva in the series “The Mechanism” (2018), from the Netflix streaming channel. For this study, I performed a film analysis to interpret the symbolic forms and identified the frameworks used by director José Padilha in the moments when João Higino (Lula) stars in different scenes during the chapters of the series. The results obtained with these analyzes showed a negative representation of his leadership, characterizing him as a corrupt leader, egotistical and harmful to the country, as well as everyone involved in corruption processes during the narrative.
