Este artigo estuda como as redes sociais podem participar da cobertura jornalística de um jornal impresso. O estudorefere-se aos jornais Meio Norte e O Dia, que circulam no estado do Piauí, e, mais especificamente, ao período que compreende
as manifestações contra o aumento das passagens de ônibus em Teresina (capital do Piauí). Os protestos foram
representados no Twitter pela hashtag #contraoaumento. Uma hashtag é um marcador dos assuntos mais comentados
no microblog. O corpus é formado por matérias veiculadas entre os dias 29 de agosto e 03 de setembro de 2011, período
em que aconteceram os protestos. A metodologia para a pesquisa é a Análise do Discurso e são abordadas as Tecnologias
da Informação e Comunicação (TICs) para enfatizar as trocas de conteúdos entre as mídias. Destacam-se neste estudo
conceitos de Charaudeau (2006), Mainguenau (2008) e Verón (2004), quanto à Análise do Discurso, bem como conceitos
desenvolvidos por Miège (2009) relativos às TICs.
