This article presents the results of a qualitative study on the implementation process of a University Mentoring Program at a higher education institution, focusing on the perceptions of both mentors and mentees. Data collection involved focus groups and questionnaires, which were analyzed using Discursive Textual Analysis. The findings indicate that university mentoring significantly contributes to the integration of first-year students into academic life, while also fostering the development of soft skills such as empathy, communication, and self-management. These competencies not only support student retention and academic success but also enhance students’ readiness for the labor market and active participation in society.
