Migration of a dental implant into the maxillary sinus: a case report

Abstract

Migration of dental implant into the maxillary sinus is an uncommon occurrence but possible complication in clinical practice and should be addressed without delay. This is a case of a 61 year old man; hypertension controlled who presented with a migrated dental implant into maxillary sinus which was removed by Caldwell-Luc approach successfully. This case report comes to express a problem that is beginning to arise more often in clinical practice. This complication is closely related to the surgical planning and the growing number of dentists with different levels of training involved with implant placement.
