Abstract

The objective is to reflect on the relationship between physical education and public health and to analyze the distribution of physical education professionals (PEF) throughout the national territory, in the State of Goiás, considering the types of places where they work, the representativeness of the Health Academy Program (PAS) and the situation of the poles according to their division by Health Regions in the municipalities of Goiás. Secondary data provided by the Ministry of Health (MS) – National Register of Health Establishments in Brazil were used, referring to the distribution of PEF throughout Brazil and the State of Goiás and MS data sent from the Superintendence of Health Surveillance to the State Department of Health, to see the divisions into Health Regions and descriptions of the situation of the PAS poles. Descriptive analyzes were carried out with a quantitative and qualitative approach, using the calculation of absolute and relative frequencies. The results show that there is a significant number of PEF working in the PAS in the State of Goiás (115 PEF) and the Central Health Region stands out with 22 PEF (19,13%). Regarding the situation of the poles, of the 238 proposals (cities) the poles in operation are distributed in 125 cities with 52,52% another 32 cities are in preparatory action (13,45%) and 31 cities with the poles concluded (13,03%). There are 16 cities with poles in execution and conclusion of the work (6,72%), 15 with the work canceled (6,30%), 09 in the beginning of the executin (3,78%) and 10 in cancellation (4,20%). It is concluded that the situation of the Program poles and the number of PEF that work in the PAS, although they are in a scenario of adjustment and increase and inclusion of corporal practices/physical activity, there is low institutionalization in the municipalities of Goiás, bad economic, political and economic distribution social, which marks the weakness in administration, costing and management.
