PERFORMANCE INDICATORS OF CHAMPION TEAMS IN HIGH-PERFORMANCE MEN'S AND WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL
Abstract
Volleyball is a sport characterized by specific technical fundamentals that determine the quality of the game when well executed. Thus, the aim of the study was to analyze the performance indicators of male and female champions volleyball teams. The study sample consisted of 93 games from the Volleyball Nations League from 2021 to 2023. Games from the champion teams were selected, both from the group regular and playoff stage. Forty-six men's games and 47 women's games were analyzed. The performance indicators were taken from the Volleyball World website. The indicators were: service, attack and block points; defenses and receptions made; and points conceded to the opponent. These variables were then determined by set. The descriptive analysis showed that the indicators of greatest value for both groups were the receptions number made and attack points per set, while the service number and block points per set were the indicators of least value. According to the t-test, the points conceded to the opponent per set were higher in the men's category compared to the women's category. The set attack points, set block points and defenses made per set were higher in the women's category compared to the men's category. Therefore, it is concluded that some game fundamentals” game have different impacts regarding the final score or team performance, showing their relevance for success in volleyball matches. In addition, the findings suggest differences in game dynamics between men's and women's teams.
