Resumen

The present study aimed to analyze the influence of the level of physical activity on the sleep quality in brazilian women. Twenty-nine adult women participated in this study, with a mean age of 33 (IIQ= 13.5) years. The level of physical activity was assessed by Baecke questionnaire on habitual physical activity and to measure the sleep quality, the Pittsburgh sleep quality index was used. Participants were divided into groups with higher and lower level of physical activity, according to the score obtained in the Baecke questionnaire on habitual physical activity. Then, the sleep quality was compared between groups by classification, components, and score obtained in the Pittsburgh sleep quality index. Groups were compared using Student's t-test and U-Mann Whitney, according to the data distribution. The chi-square test was used to compare the categorical variables. For all analyzes, p<0.05 was used. As main results, although there was no significant difference in sleep classification, a tendency to difference was observed in the total score of the Pittsburgh sleep quality index, indicating that higher levels of physical activity seem to contribute to the sleep quality in adult women.
