The article has as its starting point the scientific research, found in the realization of the State of the Art, which addresses the effects of meanings through the discursive production and communication strategies of the Barbie brand from the year 2015, since the year of 2015 and 2016 were considered the periods of “female empowerment” in advertising (Barreto Januário; Veloso, 2017). Considering the aspects of class, race and mainly gender, we reflect on the historical process of the women and its impacts on the discursive trajectory of the brand. We seek to stress brand strategies that are always linked to the female imagination, and sometimes to the feminist discourse. Finally, we reflect on brands addressing social agendas only in discursive instances, and we highlight the relevance of scientific studies that accompany this process.
