Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • The submitted file adheres to the template provided by the journal.

Author Guidelines

TYPES OF MANUSCRIPTS

The following categories of manuscripts are accepted:

Research Articles:
Maximum length of 7,000 words, excluding references, tables, and figures. They must present an original approach to the topic with significant contributions to academic knowledge. The manuscript may include no more than five tables and figures in total (and two in the case of short articles).

Review Articles:
A maximum of 7,000 words, including references and the number of tables and figures (combined). These manuscripts present a critical and updated analysis of the literature on topics relevant to the journal. They must follow a methodology that allows for the construction of a robust state of the art, linked to a relevant topic in Education, and should include the search equation, the databases and repositories consulted, the time period analyzed, inclusion criteria, data extraction matrices, and the software used for analysis.

Short Articles:
Manuscripts not exceeding 2,500 words, with a maximum of two tables or figures, and an abstract of no more than 150 words. These works present preliminary results that require further research or support emerging decision-making processes. They must meet the same content and scientific rigor standards as longer works. The manuscript may include no more than two tables and figures in total.

Case Studies:
Manuscripts up to 3,000 words. These include detailed reports of successful educational experiences or practices. The manuscript may include no more than four tables and figures in total.

Methodological Notes:
Up to 3,000 words, presenting the discussion, description, and application of new methodologies or approaches in educational research. The manuscript may include no more than four tables and figures in total.

SUBMISSION FORMAT 

  • Manuscript length: Articles must not exceed the word limit established for each category and must include abstracts, references, and appendices.

  • Title: Clear and concise, not exceeding 15 words.

  • Abstract: Must conform to the requirements for each manuscript category and include the study’s objective, methodology, results, and main conclusions. It must be presented both in the manuscript’s language and in English.

  • Keywords: Between 3 and 6 keywords that represent the main topics of the manuscript.

MANUSCRIPT STRUCTURE

Introduction: Clearly explain the research problem, study objectives, and relevance within the Latin American and Caribbean context.

Literature Review: Present the theoretical/conceptual framework, state of the art, and previous studies that support the research. Highlight the research gap the study aims to fill.

Methodology: Describe the methods and techniques used for data collection and analysis. Methodological rigor is expected.

Results: Clearly present the findings, supported by tables, figures, or graphs.

Discussion and Conclusions: Interpret the results according to the study objectives and reviewed literature, and discuss their relevance for educational policies and practices in the region.

References: Must follow the APA Style, 7th Edition.

STYLE GUIDELINES

Format: Manuscripts must be written in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format, with 2.5 cm margins, Galano Grotesqui font, size 13, and 1.5 line spacing.

Tables and Figures:
They must be included in the text and also submitted as separate files (one for tables and another for figures), properly numbered and in the correct order, with concise and self-explanatory titles. Figures should be submitted in editable or high-resolution formats (.jpg or .png for figures; Word or Excel for tables).

Citations and References:
Follow the citation style of the APA 7th Edition. All direct quotations must include their corresponding reference.

PEER REVIEW PROCESS

All manuscripts will undergo a double-blind peer review process, in which at least two experts in the relevant field will review the work. Authors will receive feedback from reviewers and must make the necessary revisions before publication.

MANUSCRIPT SUBMISSION

Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s online editorial management platform. Authors must create an account and follow the instructions provided on the platform.

Research Paper

Máximo de 7.000 palabras, excluyendo referencias, tablas y figuras. Deben presentar un enfoque original del tema con contribuciones significativas al conocimiento académico. El manuscrito no puede incluir más de cinco tablas y figuras en total, y un máximo de dos en el caso de artículos breves.

Artículo de revisión

Es un documento de un máximo de 7,000 palabras, incluyendo referencias, tablas y figuras (entre ambas), que presenta un análisis crítico y actualizado de la literatura sobre temas relevantes para la revista. Debe elaborarse siguiendo una metodología que permita construir un estado del arte sólido, y debe estar vinculado a un tema relevante en el ámbito educativo, incluyendo la ecuación de búsqueda, las bases de datos y repositorios consultados, el periodo de tiempo considerado, los criterios de inclusión, las matrices utilizadas para el vaciado de la información y el software empleado para el análisis.

Artículo breve

Trabajos cuya extensión no exceda las 2,500 palabras, con un máximo de dos tablas o figuras, y un resumen que no supere las 150 palabras. Son trabajos que presentan resultados preliminares que requieren investigaciones adicionales o que respaldan la toma de decisiones emergentes. La presentación debe cumplir con los mismos estándares de contenido y el mismo nivel de rigor científico que los trabajos más extensos. El manuscrito no debe incluir más de dos tablas y figuras en total.

Estudio de caso

Son manuscritos de un máximo de 3,000 palabras. Esta categoría incluye informes detallados de experiencias o prácticas educativas exitosas. El manuscrito no debe incluir más de cuatro tablas y figuras en total.

Nota metodológica

De un máximo de 3,000 palabras, en la que se presenta la discusión, descripción y aplicación de nuevas metodologías o enfoques en la investigación educativa. El manuscrito no debe incluir más de cuatro tablas y figuras en total.
