THE TEACHING OF SPORTS IN PHYSICAL EDUCATION CLASSES: ANALYSIS OF THE PROPOSAL FOR A TEXTBOOK FOR THE 3rd YEAR OF ELEMENTARY EDUCATION
Abstract
Throughout the history of Physical Education, the teaching of sport in schools has been structured in different ways. It has gone through a traditional/technical period; it has been restructured based on the discussions of the Physical Education Renewal Movement and, more recently, in the National Common Curricular Base (BNCC), it is considered as a practice integrated into the Body Culture of Movement, influenced by current trends in Sports Pedagogy. To assist teachers with the new demands of this area of knowledge, textbooks have been created based on BNCC skills and competencies. Thus, the objective of this article is to analyze the implementation of a didactic unit for teaching sports, based on a book from the National Textbook Program, prepared based on the skills indicated in the BNCC for the third year of Elementary School. To produce the data, eight classes were structured based on the book “Práticas Corporais” by Editora Moderna. The data produced was analyzed using Coding Category Analysis (simple coding). The main results reveal the limits and possibilities of the analyzed textbook: this material has a greater focus on analysis compared to understanding the content; makes it possible to discuss the construction of values both intentionally and spontaneously. It is concluded that the book has a viable structure; it breaks with the traditional/technical view of sports teaching at school; relates the content to the students' reality and allows students to have a critical and reflective view of sport.
