ANALYSIS OF THE EFFECT OF DIFFERENT TRAINING LOAD MAGNITUDES ON AEROBIC ENDURANCE AND STRESS SYMPTOMS IN FEMALE FUTSAL ATHLETES

Abstract

The objective of the study was to evaluate the effect of different training periods on aerobic endurance, relative intensity, and stress symptoms in female futsal athletes. Ten athletes (age: 20.12±3.13 years; weight: 58.65±5.24kg; height: 160.02±5.03cm; body mass index: 22.82±1.91kg/m² and VO2max: 43.36±1.90 ml/kg/min) classified at level 3 based on training volume and sports performance metrics were monitored over a month of training. The training period was divided into two weeks of intensification (PI-1 and PI-2), one week of tapering (PT), and one week of competition (PC). Aerobic endurance was measured (Yo-Yo intermittent recovery level 1) one week before and after the period. The relative intensity was measured by the session's subjective effort perception, and the Daily Analysis of Life Demands in Athletes was applied weekly to measure stress symptoms. It was observed that the training period was effective in improving aerobic capacity p<0.05 (before = 828.02±227.12 m vs. after = 912.02±201.80 m). Higher training loads were observed during the intensification and competitive periods (p<0.001, PI-1= 444.00±28.46 arbitrary units (au); PI-2= 470.57±25.85 au; PT=275.15±19.37 au and PC=636.00±87.81 au). Similarly, the symptoms of stress were also greater during the intensification and competitive periods (p=0.009, PI-1= 3.20±1.13 au, PI-2= 4.60±1.89 au, PT= 3.00±1.41 au; PC= 5.70±2.21 au). It is concluded that combining training weeks with periods of greater magnitudes, tapering, and competitive phases results in an increase in aerobic endurance. This combination also alters the psychophysiological variables in female futsal athletes. As a practical application, it is recommended that coaches and technical staff monitor the responses of relative intensity and stress symptoms throughout the training and competition season. This approach helps to understand and minimize the impacts of psychophysiological stress, thus preserving the health of the athletes.
