Abstract

This theoretical text defends the thesis that theoretical studies about physical education advanced toward a possible scientific maturity within its inclusion in public health. The articulation of physical education with public health is pointed as the main constitutive element of its theoretical maturity. The text entails this idea by recovering the historical roots of the relationship between physical education and health, as well as by presenting it in critical debate, which defines the space of health intervention not focused on a marketing bias, but in favor of seeing it as a social right.
