This study aimed to examine the structure of economic growth across different regions of Brazil, using data from surveys on the industrial, commercial, and service sectors in each state. To do this, the study applied location and specialization
metrics, such as the Location Ratio, to identify which sectors are particularly prominent in each region. A comparative analysis was then conducted to assess
economic growth in regions with a high concentration of credit-intensive sectors versus other regions. The results indicated that regions with a more diversified economy — that is, those with a broad mix of industries and services — tend to have
stronger economic performance and benefit more from access to credit.
