REAL EXCHANGE RATE FLUCTUATIONS IN LATIN AMERICAN COUNTRIES
Abstract
The objective of this paper is to find the sources of fluctuations of the real exchange rate for Brazil, Chile, Colombia and Mexico. In the unrestricted VAR models as in the structural VAR models with sample data from January 1994 to August 2001 of the series real exchange rate, nominal exchange rate and interest rates, I found evidence that support the hypothesis that the sources of fluctuation of the real exchange rate does not depend upon nominal factors.Downloads
