The memory as a place of culture

Abstract

The essay seeks to observe the role that the spaces of memory still play in contemporary societies to think about how these spaces have been converting themselves into places of culture, museums of suffering, and non-places of spectacle and how the emptying of the function of memory has allowed the increasingly unconstrained rise of discourses, proposals, and exaltations of fascist practices that we naively imagined we had left in the past.
