Abstract

This article proposes to answer the problem: why are people interested in the life of the others? Given the high sales of the biographical narratives (LIMA, 2009) and the existence of a big amount number of products that exemplify the biographical market (ARFUCH, 2010), the text discusses the relationship between the biographies awarded in Jabuti and with most sales in the period of 2010 to 2019. Finally, it is inferred that the biographies become an extension of the reader, who wants to identify with the protagonist of the book.
