This article discusses the construction of the metanarrative point of view, which reflect on itself by ceding its privileged authorial place and validator of the narrative. As a foundation, we use the concepts of metalanguage and metanarrative (Chalhub, 2002) applied to cinema (Andrade, 1999), bringing them closer to the idea of documentary reflexivity (Nichols, 2016). Afterwards, we examined its use in O Método (Sulzbach & Francke, 2019), through elements of film analysis (Vanoye & Lété, 2012).
