In this paper aims to develop a study on the construction of characters within the scope of works that intersect fiction and documentary based on performance and scenic artifices. Focusing on the similarity of the characters in the film A falta que nos move (Christiane Jatahy, 2011) and the play Seis personagens à procura de um autor, by Luigi Pirandello, we note that the supposed freedom of the device used in the film is like that of the characters in play: all are still hostages of an author.
