Abstract

This visual art essay presents layers, nuances, traces of a sexuality that is built through out-of-date norms that define what it is to be a man and how to perform masculinity. These are images that go over childhood and adult life in a game of revealing and hiding, of being natural and finding artifices to not be. They are drawings and photographs that, associated with objects, rescue/invent memories to make people think about ways and strategies to exist/insist in the world.

Author Biography

Marcelo Forte, Universidade Estadual do Paraná

Marcelo Forte é Doutor em Estudos Contemporâneos pelo Centro de Estudos Interdisciplinares do Século XX da Universidade de Coimbra, Portugal, com reconhecimento na área de Artes Visuais pela Universidade do Estado de Santa Catarina. Mestre em Arte e Cultura Visual pelo Programa de Pós-graduação em Arte e Cultura Visual da Universidade Federal de Goiás. Possui licenciatura plena no curso de Artes Visuais - Desenho e Plástica pela Universidade Federal de Santa Maria. Atua como professor colaborador na Universidade Estadual do Paraná. Integrante do Grupo de Estudos e Pesquisas em Arte, Educação e Cultura (GEPAEC) da UFSM e do Grupo de Estudos em Arte e Mediação Arestas, da UFRGS. Atualmente desenvolve pesquisa de pós-doutoramento em Belas Artes pela Universidade de Lisboa.
