Abstract

Authorship in documentary fiction is the result of a collaborative process between filmmakers and filmed subjects based on participatory strategies such as mise en situation, self-mise-en-scène or self-fiction. The aim of this paper, therefore, is to discuss the relationship between authorship and this kind of strategies in films such as The Nothing Factory (Pinho, 2017), Jack’s Ride (Nobre, 2021), The Year of the Discovery (López Carrasco, 2020) and Who’s Stopping Us (Trueba, 2021).

Author Biography

Iván Villarmea Álvarez, Universidade de Santiago de Compostela

Iván Villarmea Álvarez (A Corunha, Galiza, 1981) é crítico, investigador, professor e programador cinematográfico. Doutor pela Universidade de Saragoça, trabalha atualmente como professor auxiliar de história do cinema na Universidade de Santiago de Compostela. Publicou o livro Documenting Cityscapes. Urban Change in Contemporary Non-Fiction Film (2015) e co-editou os volumes New Approaches to Cinematic Space (2019; com Filipa Rosário) e Jugar con la Memoria. El Cine Portugués en el Siglo XXI (2014; com Horacio Muñoz Fernández). Ganhou o Prémio María Luz Morales da Academia Galega do Audiovisual em 2020 e 2021, foi codiretor da revista digital de crítica cinematográfica A Cuarta Parede entre 2013 e 2017 e cofundador do Cineclube de Compostela em 2001.
