For a long time, family photographs remained restricted to the private environment. However, nowadays, images from family archives have also become part of the work of artists, museum collections and, more recently, the pages of photobooks. In this text, it is proposed that the presence of family photographs in photobooks is detached from the idea of an album and approaches the notion of an atlas, a term taken in the sense consecrated by Aby Warburg.
