Abstract

This article aims to reflect on how the neoliberal capitalist mediatic society presents new and different contemporary forms of “disappearing from oneself”, a concept proposed by David Le Breton. It starts with an interdisciplinary perspective that unites theoretical contributions from the areas of Communication and Media Theory, Sociology and Psychology, to present a discussion about how contemporary forms of “disappearing from oneself” involve the abandonment of the body and can signal a compensation for the psychic pressures to which contemporary individuals are subject in the context of a society crossed by the media image, telerelationships and digital immersion.

Ana Luiza Iughetti Feres é mestranda em Comunicação e Cultura Midiática (UNIP), com bolsa CAPES; graduada em Ciências Econômicas (UNICAMP) e pós-graduada em Psicologia Analítica (IJEP). É também psicoterapeuta clínica e colaboradora do Instituto Educadigital.

Malena Segura Contrera, Universidade Paulista - UNIP

Malena Segura Contrera é doutora em Comunicação e Semiótica (PUC/SP), pós-doutora em Comunicação (UFRJ) e professora do PPGCOM da UNIP. Líder do Grupo de Pesquisa em Mídia e Estudos do Imaginário (UNIP) e Diretora do Instituto do Imaginário. É também analista junguiana.
