Quilombola populations in the Communication Congress

Abstract

The article reflects on the scientific productions that address the quilombola populations in the field of Communication. A survey of works published in research groups of the Congresso Brasileiro de Ciências da Comunicação (Intercom) from 2012 to 2022 was conducted. We found 24 articles related to this theme among 11,103 analyzed works, revealing a gap in scientific production on the subject, despite its relevance in understanding sociopolitical and cultural issues in the country.

Professora adjunta do curso de Comunicação do CAA-UFPE e do Programa de Pós-graduação em Comunicação da Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE). Vice-coordenadora da Pós-graduação em Comunicação Política (UFPE). Coordenadora do Grupo de Pesquisa Dinâmicas do Jornalismo(UFPE) e integrante dos Grupos de Pesquisa Jornalismo e Contemporaneidade (UFPE), Rádio e Política no Maranhão (UFMA) e Jornalismo Audiovisual (UFSE). Coordena os projetos de extensão “Radionovela: literatura nas ondas do rádio”, “Solte Sua Voz: os invisíveis midiáticos”. É vice-coordenadora do projeto “Rádio Cordel: na frequência do Agreste”. Uma das organizadoras do dossiê “Jornalismo em pauta: permanências e impermanências”(UFT). Doutora em Comunicação (UFPE), com estágio doutoral na Universidade Pompeu Fabra, em Barcelona.

Graduated in Multimedia Journalism from the Departamento de Ciências Humanas (DCH), Campus III - Juazeiro, at the State University of Bahia (UNEB), where he worked as a research initiation scholar with a scholarship from the Bahia State  Fundação de Amparo a Pesquisa do Estado da Bahia (Fapesb) in the project "Perfil Fotoetnográfico das Populações Quilombolas do Submédio São Francisco: Identidades em movimento." Currently, he is part of the IAL - Instituto da América Latina, UFPE, and the Nova Cartografia Social do São Francisco research groups. His main interests lie in journalism, television journalism, quilombola populations, communication, and activism.
