This article investigates the outcomes of the A2020 initiative, which aimed to diversify the Oscar voters. Through Thematic Analysis, characters of black actresses nominated were examined based on the categories proposed by Collins, grounded in the theories of Cultural and Gender Studies. Despite the increased nominations of black women, their representation contributes to the maintenance of the hegemonic system of race and gender, not resulting in a plurality of these social minorities in the screens.
