This article proposes a semiotic look at the beautiful green oasis in the arid savannas (veredas), as described particularly by Guimaraes Rosa in Grande Sertão: Veredas. Explored "nonada", these veredas open trails to be followed. This current analysis invites the reader to revisit them and to analyze them from many perspectives. For this reason, the choice of the pragmatic method of Charles Sanders Peirce, who proves to be able to capture the cognitive character of the veredas, was made. The high informational incidence of these images point out the formulating elements of the pragmatist doctrine, such as the inseparable nature between thought and experience, investigation and self correction of thought, vagueness and Musement. This study, of a strictly bibliographic nature, aims to open new fronts on the study of the background theme, the vastlands of the Brazilian heartland, represented by the veredas. The insights of Peirce are brought into play in this analysis as necessary research tools when deemed to be a truly method and thinking practice.
