The insertion of young people in the Brazilian job market is a central theme for researchers and public policy makers due to the country's economic and social inequalities that affect the level of education and the conditions for these young people to remain in the market. The objective of the study was to analyze the factors that influence the “neither-nor” status (neither studying nor working) of young
people in different Brazilian regions, using a multinomial logit model with data from the 2023 PNADC. The results showed that young people blacks and those from less developed regions are more likely to be out of school and work. It is concluded that public policies that better prepare young people, with access to quality education, are essential to keep young people in the learning phase and guarantee their future insertion in the job market, providing better opportunities and salaries.
