Territórios negros, memória e cartografias ancestrais

Abstract

The article analyzes the modern city as an urban form articulated with the modern/colonial pattern of power, responsible for the conversion of space into homogeneous and administrable extension and for the articulation between racial classification and territorial ordering. It argues that Black territories institute another form of spatialization, grounded in relationality. It concludes that ancestral cartography renders legible the overlap of temporalities and spatialities in the urban sphere and reinscribes territory as a field of dispute.
